1959
Grand Valley Tile was founded by a pair of tile installers, Bruce Goetz and Harold Hunt. They opened their first location at 262 Mill St. in Kitchener, Ontario (pictured here). The focus was solely the supply and installation of ceramic tile for new home construction and commercial buildings.
1962

Late 1960s
In addition to our ceramic tile offering Grand Valley Tile & Flooring added carpet rolled goods and sheet vinyl to our offering. Here's a photo of a corner of our warehouse showing the variety of some of our rolled goods in inventory.
1971
Bruce and Harold started a second location in Hanover to service the market in northern Ontario. There was a storefront and a house on the property.
Late 1970s
A new product, prefinished hardwood, was introduced to the market and in the late 1970s Grand Valley Tile & Flooring added the supply and installation of prefinished hardwood flooring to our offering. See pallets of prefinished hardwood flooring stacked up in our warehouse.
1980
Bruce and Harold built a brand new 6,000 square foot building located at 70 Alpine Ct, Kitchener and began operating Grand Valley Tile & Flooring there. It was from this location that we added to our builder and commercial flooring offering, built a designer showroom to display our products and started to offer residential flooring supply and installation to home owners.
Late 1980s
Laminate flooring was introduced to the market and in the late 1980s Grand Valley Tile & Flooring added the supply and installation of laminate flooring to our offering.
Early 2000s
Grand Valley Tile & Flooring added the supply and installation of heated flooring to our offering. In a relatively short period of time, what started off as an exclusive luxury for the wealthy few has now become a mainstream staple accessible to the masses. 2001
Upon Harold's Retirement, Grand Valley Tile & Flooring was purchased by Bruce's son, Mark Goetz. Mark takes over as President. (Bruce and Mark pictured here)
Mid 2000s
Vinyl plank flooring, a.k.a. Luxury Vinyl Tile or Luxury Vinyl Plank, a.k.a. LVT/LVP was introduced to the market - first in commercial glue-down applications. In the 2000s Grand Valley Tile & Flooring added the supply and installation of vinyl plank flooring to our offering.
2015
Grand Valley Tile & Flooring added the supply and installation of quartz countertops to our offering. Cambria, Caesarstone, Hanstone, Silestone, MSI, Vicostone, and more products are a part of this offering. Pictured here are husband and wife owners Mark & Debbie Goetz.
2018
Grand Valley Tile & Flooring purchases and moves to 40 Alpine Ct., doubling its size to 12,000 SF. Our state-of-the-art designer showroom remains the most desirable tile, flooring, and countertop showroom in the region and has undergone constant updates and renovations since.
2019
Zach Goetz purchases the company from his parents Mark & Debbie Goetz. Zach is the third generation owner of Grand Valley Tile & Flooring.
2020
The supply and installation of our countertop offering has expanded to offer not only quartz but also porcelain, sintered stone, and natural stone countertops. Grand Valley Tile & Flooring has also added the supply and installation of large format porcelain slab tiles measuring 5'x10' for floors and walls.
2023
Grand Valley Tile & Flooring added the supply and installation of polished concrete and epoxy flooring to our offering. Residential garages, patios, porches and interiors as well as commercial spaces such as restaurants, common spaces, industrial spaces, food processing plants, arenas, and more are some of the projects we've completed lately.
